Put jewellery on last
Perfume, hairspray, lotion and makeup can settle on plating and stones. Complete your skincare and fragrance routine first, allow products to dry, and then put on the jewellery. After the event, remove jewellery before changing clothes so hooks, chains and stone settings do not catch on fabric.
Keep it away from water and humidity
Remove imitation jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping. Water and sweat can remain in joins and under stones even when the surface looks dry. In humid weather, let a worn piece air briefly in a dry indoor place before returning it to storage.
Wipe; do not scrub
After wear, use a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove surface oils. Avoid toothpaste, metal polish, alcohol, sanitizer and abrasive brushes. Do not soak the piece. If a detailed area needs attention, use a dry soft brush with almost no pressure; when in doubt, ask before cleaning.
Store every piece separately
Friction causes scratches and tangling. Close clasps, place earrings as pairs and store each item in its own soft pouch or lined compartment. Keep chains flat or loosely coiled, never tightly knotted. Add a small silica-gel pouch to the storage box in humid conditions, but do not allow it to rub against the jewellery.
Handle from the structure
Pick up a necklace from its chain or frame rather than pulling at stones, tassels or pearl drops. Open clasps fully instead of stretching them over the head or wrist. Check loose jump rings, hooks and stones before an event so a minor issue can be addressed before wear.
Know when to pause wearing it
